Weekdays

Labels: , , , , ,
I'm back to my "rest" weekends again! One - because my weekend mates have been busy. Two - trying to save up some money. Three - really need some rest.

So last weekend I was stuck in my room to do nothing. It was kind of lame I know, and impractical since I whine about how unorganized my life is right now and all that messed up life dilemma.

The art of doing nothing is my greatest, number one, guilty pleasure. I'm so good at wasting time. It may sound very repulsive, yes? But it calms me down. I think there would be some kind of world peace if people just sat for a day and think about things that make them grin.

Ok enough of my nonsense string of calming thoughts. I'm going to stay here, in my room today. I ain't gonna comb my hair, cause ain't going anywhere... hoohoo

Weekdays

I actually can't complain about this week.

Monday, I had dinner with Miko, Erika, and Ate Mariko. "I missed Miko" is an understatement. We're too far from each other sometimes, communicating with her through mobile and the internet is not enough. I miss laughing by the mere sight of our facial expressions.

You know when I say I miss college, a part of it will always come from missing Kumiko. Always.

It's such a great bonus that Erika joined us for the night. It could never go wrong with these two. They are two of those people who make me laugh even I've had the shittiest day. They make me want to laugh, they make you want to try to crack a joke, because they make me not want to waste the time I have with them. It's comforting.

Being nostalgic and all, I dug deep into Kumiko's multiply account and found old pictures. I have to blog separately about that though. She already posted a blog about it. Lovely!

Tuesday, I never get to go home early when I promise myself to do so. Meeting up with Jervi got cancelled because he said he had to go somewhere. Maybe meet boys lol. I ended up having the usual after office routine. Dinner, coffee and pretzels. We got to redeem the free pretzels from Joy. Yay! They were telling me I am becoming one of their topics because I was MIA for a few days haha so I had to spend some time with them. TO RANT of course. :)

Wednesday, Sir Benjie's despidida. Well, no details on that. One thing is for sure though, it was fun. I was not able to join Jervi, Pao and Erika though. I couldn't leave the office even if I tried. I got a call from a drunk Erika who passed the phone to a drunk Paola who then passed it to another drunk, cussing Jervi. Haha what a nice lullaby before I sleep!

Thursday, is just kadlhvfailwuo;wfrw. Since I had to pass the previous night, we agreed to hang out after office on a Thursday. We went to Fort Agave, because of Pao haha. I was pissed off at first because they can't decide where to go, if they're going to pick me up, and to add some more stress they were late. I was hungry and anxious. Finally when we arrived, we ordered and had small talks that involved Pao and Jervi's bickering. And then I turned to face Pao. And on the background I saw you. Oh my, freaking heavens. I saw you. After, I'm guessing, nine years? Wow you still look the same. Still beautiful if I my say. Gad, I sound like a creeper.

I. just. can't. even. I looked so wasted. Darn it. But it didn't bother me much. I was a little surprised to see you. I don't think this comes from mainly or entirely having a big crush on you waaaay back when I was just starting adolescence. It's just that somehow, I came to realize I kind of looked up to you. You were different from all the people I knew back then - smart, kind, I don't really know you but I can imagine what kind of culture you got. Ok I'll just breathe and stop creeping out. LOL

Friday, is HARRY POTTER day! I'm not a fan and I'm a little lost, well most of the time. Didn't read the books, haven't even watched the movies (well except the last two) but I can say I liked it. Pma was crying haha we were all for saving her tears too but Ayee told me to shut up because it was the serious and important part of the film. Pao got extra junk because they didn't give us popcorn. Boo. They should've compensated by giving us two hotdogs! Anyway, SM North was so packed there were people and cars everywhere. We parked at the empty spot at the Valet parking. In our defense, we searched the place and had circled the block to find the valet booth but to no avail. And then when we got back, no one was there either so we just took off. HAHA

To end the day we had Moonleaf to go.

So yes, I need rest. Today I swear I'm not doing anything, nothing at all!

PS. I'm only quoting Bruno Mars's song because of Edei :p

The Girls from Taft

Labels: , , , , ,
Ops. No, they aren't from DLSU. They're UP Manila kids! I'm pretty much proud of these girls. They have gone a long way and, wait for it, they're still alive!

I don't know where and when it actually started. We just had a thread where we talked about having a get together. It got postponed a few timesbut we managed to set a date. Much to my demise, they wanted it on a Wednesday, after reg. And who am I to object? I'm the only one working - I was out numbered. Good thing I got my way into convincing them to have dinner at Makati. Meeting up at MOA on a Wednesday night was just pure madness. There was no way on Earth I could pull that one off.

So, I basically sprinted to the bus stop as soon as I got out of the office. I was so giddy about it I didn't even care if my clothes were put together decently.

I came early. Earliest actually. The rain has made it difficult for them to avoid heavy traffic and there were last minute delays and whatever. I was almost pissed. (Why is it that when we plan on seeing each other, the skies won't fail to turn grumpy?)

I went to All Flip Flops at Glorietta and found out that they had Havs Explorers of size 35s in 4 different colors. Ugh. That was when I got really pissed and stormed off back to Greenbelt like a furious Panda.

After so much time waiting and torturing myself on looking for shoes, half of the girls came!

Christine, I, Shane and Bari boy

They did not want to suggest a place and I was dead serious of being hungry so without even thinking, we just went in for some Mexican food. (I like Mexican Express better than this. I don't even know if I remember the restaurant's name right. I think it was Baja?)

Nina and Karina soon arrived. Oh how I missed these two! They were the first two close friends I had at UPM. I think, they're still the closest ones I got there plus Bari.

Bari then commented, out of the blue while the three of us were laughing about some random memory, that the "Mean Girls" were back together. I winced, not being used to be associated with such words and the thought of attaching my name to a famous mainstream bitch movie I didn't even get to watch up to now. I don't think I remember them referring us as that way back circa 2007. Haha but that had made my heart melt a bit. I remember how close we were, we were constantly laughing and gossiping like high school girls. We usually took the lead at throwing random insults to random people like it was just part of our day. We constantly teased friends and made fun of each other.

So many things have changed, Skinny got a boyfriend and is now the president of the Dent council. (what a shocking shocker! hahaha) and Nins have Mia now, she's so adorable! Yet, things seemed to be just the same. It was still fun hanging out with them, no dead air, no awkwardness whatsoever. :)

Hmm, ok so before I get all mopey and stuff. We headed out to get some gelato. Yay! Dessert is my favorite part of pigging out.

After having mediocre Mexican food

Gelato outside Gelatone. (Yeah, cause outside, there's no such thing as service charge!)

We got all kinds of gelato, and with "all kinds" I mean different kinds for us to taste. lol Karina had even tasted so much of other people's gelato, she barely touched hers! Joy was on a taste test feast with the ice cream boy (that's not supposed to sound naughty) and settled for the one with a flavor of Mango and Bacardi. How innocent of her haha

I was raining the whole night. I thought I'd be stuck at Makati. Im never good at commuting in that area. Good thing Pam saved me and I got in a van before it hit midnight. That was so exhausting but I guess, it was worth the effort :)

Thanks to Gio for taking this picture

We suggested to do this more often. Ha! I just don't know if that's possible but we already had the next pig out session planned out. :)

I kind of remembered the blog "Nostalgia Manila" while typing this whole thing :p

The Good Things that Come Out of Unfortunate Events

This week's fridate was a different one.

My friend's mom passed away early this week. I just got home and went on line last Tuesday, the first thing I read was her message, telling me what happened. My heart sank for a few minutes I was even tearing up a bit. It was so hard to imagine someone losing his/her mom.

We had agreed to let go of the usual fridate pig out to go to the wake. It was kind of weird that we were group texting talking about going to a funeral parlor. Aren't we young for this? Sure I had my first wake with friends last month but it feels different thinking one of my closest friend's mom died. However, I had to admit I got a bit excited knowing we would have a little bit of a get together after a while.

Ayee picked me up at Cubao then we headed off to Maginhawa because Pma and Pao were there for their so called emergency. Truth be told, Ayee and I were getting a bit grumpy cause we had planned this days before and they were causing us delay for a fake emergency (yeah, we can tell. cause who gets an emergency and stays at Tomatokick? like duh) plus this is not just any fridate. We were going to a wake for chris' sake, someone can only die once!

So anyway, it did help that we got milk tea from Moonleaf and luckily, after what seems to be a lifetime, caramel pudding was available. We decided to just meet up there so we waited for Erika and Ate Kami as well. To our surprise, Fiona was with them! Oh my she's gotten so big already! I remember not so long ago she was in Erika's tummy while we were scaring each other about ghosts at Sacay and now she is this adorable and girly little kid (not to mention very well behaved)

(Everyone cracked up when Pao said the last time she saw Fiona was when she celebrated her 7th birthday. LOL what a lie, she's just five!)

We got there at around 830 already and the place was just plain packed! We stood outside for more than an hour chatting and catching up. it's good to see that Carmi's holding up pretty well. (I guess). I'm praying that they would be ok. I know we all are. She's a strong woman and I can't help but be amazed by her. She's been through a lot - makes me want to think twice when I want to whine about my life. She may not know it but I look up to her. I know she is far from perfect but she has a good heart.

I just miss us being together. Since we graduated from college, it has been so hard to get us in one place at the same time. The random afternoons at school were long gone. It kind of makes me real sad. I think about those sunny days when we bump into each other just like that. Like it was the most normal thing in the world and now, someone had to pass away to get us all in. Well, scratch that, not even all of us.

I told Erika how I feel old and grown up. That I think we already belonged to those people who say they only get to see friends on wakes.

Whew. Well, on a lighter note, as a superstition of making "pagpag" after you visit the dead and as my own physical need for food (I haven't eaten anything for the day), we went off and searched for some place to eat. We ended up at JT's. And of course, we saw JT. hehe.

It was pleasant having dinner at a long table with good old friends like good old days. Fiona had dinuguan. LOL, I don't even eat that, isn't she just so likable for a kid? I really don't have my way on these little creatures I find it hard getting along with them and they're kind of irritating when they're 5 you know. But Fiona was a good kid, I can just tell. Of course, Pma being a child at heart, became her instant playmate. They were so cute, I had stopped a few seconds for a couple of times just to watch them.

We went to get ice cream after that. Wow, that's the best part! :p

It was past twelve so we decided to head home.

This is why I love Fridays. I can't even work the whole day cause my mind has a giant sign with blinking neon lights that spelled FRIENDS. It doesn't really matter if we celebrate or mourn, I just feel happier when I'm with them.

Food and Friends

Labels: , , , , , ,
In line with being a happy kid, which is my almost-everyday-kind-of-kid lately, this is a post to acknowledge one of the major sources of my happiness -Friends and Food.

Last week, after hours well spent at Greenhills, Pma, Ayee and I together with Iya then followed by Ate Trish, Tita Grace and Tito Elmer (whew!) went to Eastwood to try out Sambokojin or for us, Sambojokin. :p

Actually what I loved most about our dinner aside from the fact that we got to grill our own food, was that we had tons of laughter! Like we were laughing so hard we didn't even care if the place was full of people munching on food. Tita Grace gave us that stern-trying-not-to-laugh look and said "Dinig na dinig ko kayo dun" (pointing at the far side of the room). Hah! Whatever. We were all having a good time and I know she was happy that we were all so hyped.

SamboJOKIN with Ayee and Pma

So yesterday, I planned to stay home and enjoy the weekend by fangirling (lol). My phone was actually turned off but I decided to charge it just in case my dad would try to call or text me. It was almost noon and I was still alone in the house. Not complaining though, I love alone times :) I immediately received a text message upon opening my phone. It was Pma telling me we're going out. I wasn't so sure if I wanted to since I came home a bit late the night before after having a few drinks with Erika at TK. I missed her so much! I love that I got to talk to her again about random stuff. I feel sad sometimes thinking we don't get to do that everyday anymore. Oh, and while we were drinking, she randomly said that we should watch the Incubus concert. Then in a sec, they were already playing Drive and we were laughing while enjoying the music. When it hit the chorus, people started to sing in unison "Whatever tomorrow brings I'll be there..." like it was automatic. That made me smile, it was just plain good vibes!

Ok so going back to yesterday, I finally decided to go. We figured we'll just go to Makati since we have been to Ortigas and Eastwood already last week. We ended up eating at Bon Chon and having dessert at Cara Mia. Chicken wings and Gelato kept me smiling the whole time. The weather was perfect - not too hot but not so cloudy. We sat there for hours enjoying the quietness of the place. I loved it! No amount of food or alcohol or music can beat conversations with friends. :)

Killing time doing the it's just a face/phase post

I want more and more of this! I wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow :p

What a Nice Surprise

Labels: , , , ,
I went online awhile ago with a cup of coffee in my room. Planning to light a cigarette and do my usual meme, ironically, right after waking up.

A private msg just popped out in my Facebook chat and I was so surprised about who it was.

It was Mrs Gloria Paneza! Our Physics teacher back in senior year high school. My heart was just beating so fast of excitement; I haven't talked to her since 1st year college.

It's so touching that she remembers us. She suggested that I take up law. I get that all the time, you know? "Bakit di ka mag-law" "Ituloy mo na sayang naman" "Kayang kaya mo yan" But it's different coming from her. I only had two teachers who made me feel they really believe in me - and she was the first. The most genuine compliments and suggestions I got from a teacher came from her. I owe her so much yet she doesn't really know how special she is to me.

Yee excited for our get together this May. I hope everything goes well :)
