TV Shows that Make Us Vomit Rainbows

Labels: ,

Well, results of Afterellen's Hot 100 came out this week.

Women who play gay roles topped the list so you see, gay TV fandom is so powerful! LOL.

10. Lea Michele

Lea might not play a gay role on TV but the fans have been very well um, creative (probably delusional?) in thinking that off cam, since she and Diana (#8) are very close, might have gay tendencies. As they say Brittana will happen but Heya won't. Faberry can't happen but Achele can. Just plain crazy LOL.

9. Lily Loveless

I love Lily. I'm quite upset that Kathryn didn't make it to the top 10. Well, doesn't matter. She's somewhere in the Top 20 still. It's a bit surprising since Skins Series 3 ended about a year ago. She isn't gay on TV anymore. Nonetheless, she's still on the 9th spot. I actually find Naomily finale scenes overly cheesy. Like too much cheesy - but that doesn't mean I don't like em. I had a Naomily hang over last year, my tumblr was full of reblogs.

8. Diana Agron

I think if her line "I'm flattered Santana, but I'm not that into that" (referring to having sex with S) aired a week or even days before the results were out, Diana might have landed on a higher spot. #justsayin

7. Shay Mitchell

I think I should start watching Pretty Little Liars. :)

6. Amber Heard

She's the only one out on the list and she's not in some popular TV show Hooray! Tasya wasn't on the list though :(

5. Olivia Wilde

Naya Rivera @GLAAD Awards "How. Hot. Is. She.?" (referring to Olivia). Haven't watched House recently. I'm not quite sure why. Hmm. This is the second time Olivia has played a gay role on TV. The first one was on The OC. I prefer her role as 13 though (excluding the part that she hooked up with Foreman) Her character as a gay female doctor with Huntington's disease is just very complex. She plays it well plus she's so hot.

4. Sara Ramirez

I've been a fan of Grey's Anatomy long before Callie turned gay. I'm actually not so much hyped with Callie and Arizona getting married though. I think it is kind of like that in real life. You enjoy dating more than marriage. LOL It's amazing how her character shows that Callie as a person loves who she loves with all her heart. She's just as crazy for Arizona like how she was crazy for George. Not holding back just because of stereotypes.

3. Jessica Capshaw

She played a minor role on the hit series The L word - which is the first and only series to date focused on gay women - as Bette's student slash minor love/lust affair. She got in Grey's playing a bubbly lesbian pediatrician. My favorite scene of her was when she talked to Callie's dad saying she's a strong man. Clap clap!

2. Heather Morris

I read that Heather's mom doesn't approve of her playing gay on TV. (Why? Does she have gay tendencies?) Anyway, who doesn't love HeMo? I mean, she can dance like there's no tomorrow. That's definitely a plus. However, I think if the fans read about her shipping Bartie before the voting ended, she might have landed in the 100th spot. LOL

1. Naya Rivera

Straight up bitch. I guess, people have voted for Naya since her role as Santana - a teenage girl struggling with her sexuality in high school - has been a common experience for almost all gay people. At some point, you have all these feelings of fear, hate, anger, repression, confusion and doubt. And then accepting yourself becomes as hard as squashing a melon with two needles.

Fans have been disappointed that Santana and Brittany didn't end up together as girlfriends on Glee's Season 2 finale. Well, not everyone who falls in love with someone ends up being with that person right? (I even read some post that said it was disappointing that they didn't go together to prom and they thought it would be like the Loveball ending of Skins series 2. Isn't that lame if they copied Skins?)

Anywhoo, I think TV series are so much infectious. Don't complain that real life gay women celebrities didn't get to the top. If they aren't in worldwide hit TV shows, how are people supposed to know about them? Honestly, I think some progress has been made since producers are already taking the risk of having gay characters on their shows. It gives a room for the LGBT people to sit down and watch and say "hey, I could totally relate to that."

The Good Things that Come Out of Unfortunate Events

This week's fridate was a different one.

My friend's mom passed away early this week. I just got home and went on line last Tuesday, the first thing I read was her message, telling me what happened. My heart sank for a few minutes I was even tearing up a bit. It was so hard to imagine someone losing his/her mom.

We had agreed to let go of the usual fridate pig out to go to the wake. It was kind of weird that we were group texting talking about going to a funeral parlor. Aren't we young for this? Sure I had my first wake with friends last month but it feels different thinking one of my closest friend's mom died. However, I had to admit I got a bit excited knowing we would have a little bit of a get together after a while.

Ayee picked me up at Cubao then we headed off to Maginhawa because Pma and Pao were there for their so called emergency. Truth be told, Ayee and I were getting a bit grumpy cause we had planned this days before and they were causing us delay for a fake emergency (yeah, we can tell. cause who gets an emergency and stays at Tomatokick? like duh) plus this is not just any fridate. We were going to a wake for chris' sake, someone can only die once!

So anyway, it did help that we got milk tea from Moonleaf and luckily, after what seems to be a lifetime, caramel pudding was available. We decided to just meet up there so we waited for Erika and Ate Kami as well. To our surprise, Fiona was with them! Oh my she's gotten so big already! I remember not so long ago she was in Erika's tummy while we were scaring each other about ghosts at Sacay and now she is this adorable and girly little kid (not to mention very well behaved)

(Everyone cracked up when Pao said the last time she saw Fiona was when she celebrated her 7th birthday. LOL what a lie, she's just five!)

We got there at around 830 already and the place was just plain packed! We stood outside for more than an hour chatting and catching up. it's good to see that Carmi's holding up pretty well. (I guess). I'm praying that they would be ok. I know we all are. She's a strong woman and I can't help but be amazed by her. She's been through a lot - makes me want to think twice when I want to whine about my life. She may not know it but I look up to her. I know she is far from perfect but she has a good heart.

I just miss us being together. Since we graduated from college, it has been so hard to get us in one place at the same time. The random afternoons at school were long gone. It kind of makes me real sad. I think about those sunny days when we bump into each other just like that. Like it was the most normal thing in the world and now, someone had to pass away to get us all in. Well, scratch that, not even all of us.

I told Erika how I feel old and grown up. That I think we already belonged to those people who say they only get to see friends on wakes.

Whew. Well, on a lighter note, as a superstition of making "pagpag" after you visit the dead and as my own physical need for food (I haven't eaten anything for the day), we went off and searched for some place to eat. We ended up at JT's. And of course, we saw JT. hehe.

It was pleasant having dinner at a long table with good old friends like good old days. Fiona had dinuguan. LOL, I don't even eat that, isn't she just so likable for a kid? I really don't have my way on these little creatures I find it hard getting along with them and they're kind of irritating when they're 5 you know. But Fiona was a good kid, I can just tell. Of course, Pma being a child at heart, became her instant playmate. They were so cute, I had stopped a few seconds for a couple of times just to watch them.

We went to get ice cream after that. Wow, that's the best part! :p

It was past twelve so we decided to head home.

This is why I love Fridays. I can't even work the whole day cause my mind has a giant sign with blinking neon lights that spelled FRIENDS. It doesn't really matter if we celebrate or mourn, I just feel happier when I'm with them.

I can't wait for the day that I would start looking forward to Mondays again

Labels: ,

I feel extremely unhappy this weekend. Last Monday I decided not to go to work because

This is getting serious. I don't know how long I could hold up for that fucking job you know? I've waited. And well, I thought I would't have to anymore cause it feels like the deal has been forgotten. I was actually planning to file my resignation last week, or this week at the latest. I even tol a few friends how excited and nervous I am. Then it came again, oh my god, the deal is still freakin on. I know I agreed to this and I am genuinely happy to grand a friend a favor but, this is becoming too much. I mean if thisjob aint a bitch at all I think I could even wait longer but hell it's kinda killing me. Like every time I wake up I expect it to be a bad day unless it's a Friday or Saturday. This week, I had to bring home some papers to finish them at home. I just want my weekend to be peaceful and happy and the thought of work ruins it. In addition, I keep on looking forward to Fridays only since that means not having to go to work the next day. That's just lame! (Oh I look forward to Wednesdays too because new eps of Glee come out here on Wednesdays but that's even a lamer reason. Plus, it's already the finale this week so in reality, I have to scratch Wednesday too.) I feel like my life is being cut short because I'm on autopilot staring Sunday night to Thursday night. I can't even wake up on a Sunday happy.

The only thing that is good about my job is the friendships I've built with my co-workers.

Like when someone tells me I'm lucky that given the high rate of unemployment these days, I have a job, I want to punch him/her in the face.

Most of all, I don't want to suck at work. I may hate it but I don't want to be inefficient. But given how I feel about this job and given the work load that's like close to hell, I don't really know if I can do this smoothly.

I just want to get out and fix my life, explore other possibilities. I want to have time to think. I just pray everything falls into place. I've been waiting for the right time. I don't know how long I could manage to to go all AWOL.

Friday Night: Little Tokyo and BGC (Butterflies and Bizu)

Labels: , , , ,
Friday! Majority of my officemates went to MBO at noon for the company outing. I know it may sound lame that I chose to pass on that but surprisingly, I don't really care. Friday was great! Erika said she was in the area so we thought we'd have lunch only to find out we both weren't hungry and ended up having coffee. I was successful in convincing her to go with us (Pma and Ayee) in the afternoon.

Pma's meeting got cancelled. Couldn't hide my grin while "working" - that meant we can stay longer and go anywhere. Timog isn't really my place so... yeah :)

They picked us up at almost six and we were driving to nowhere. We drove around San Juan, Pasig, Mandaluyong until we have decided that we're going to Makati and due to Pma's lack of suggestions for Italian restos, The Little Tokyo vote had won (yey!)

I've been wanting to try this place since late last year. We got a bit lost but we got there just in time before I lose my appetite.

Tadah! Little Tokyo's entrance. With hookers on the side lol.

We ate at Oishinbo. It had an nice and cozy interior. The tables were full so we had to sit at the counter which is good btw. I'm glad we got to try that :) Bottles of liquor and food being grilled in front of us.

The Menu

Beef Bentou

"I-forgot-the-kind-of" Ramen (nonetheless, it was good!)

Erika and I shared our dinner since we cannot decide if we want Ramen or Bentou. I love the potato salad! Haha yep, anthing potato keeps me happy!

The ambiance we got from the counter. We transfered to the big table at the corner for the fifth member. (a baseball game being shown on TV, I really wished they had Sumo wrestling) Joy followed to have dinner but she had to rush to a meeting at BGC. We decided to just go to there as well and get coffee/try Starbucks Drive Thru since we were done eating anyway.

Starbucks Drive Thru

Got Strawberries and Cream. Can't take too much coffee in a day :p

We parked beside Starbucks (which is kinda odd since we can park at Starbucks for free) just because we wanted that dim parking lot feel and we didn't want to be in a crowded place. Pma started playing the guitar. She's getting good at it! It was plain laid back and relaxing.

Sadly we had to end the night for 1. My Curfew 2. Pma's need of sleep to prep up for camping. We picked up at Ate Trish at St Lukes and then brought us to our "drop off points".

I want more Friday nights like this! And I'm going to say it again, I wouldn't trade a long way drive, Little Tokyo, Starbucks Drive Thru and Fort parking with Marriott, Corregidor, booze and Kaos. BABAE! :)

Food and Friends

Labels: , , , , , ,
In line with being a happy kid, which is my almost-everyday-kind-of-kid lately, this is a post to acknowledge one of the major sources of my happiness -Friends and Food.

Last week, after hours well spent at Greenhills, Pma, Ayee and I together with Iya then followed by Ate Trish, Tita Grace and Tito Elmer (whew!) went to Eastwood to try out Sambokojin or for us, Sambojokin. :p

Actually what I loved most about our dinner aside from the fact that we got to grill our own food, was that we had tons of laughter! Like we were laughing so hard we didn't even care if the place was full of people munching on food. Tita Grace gave us that stern-trying-not-to-laugh look and said "Dinig na dinig ko kayo dun" (pointing at the far side of the room). Hah! Whatever. We were all having a good time and I know she was happy that we were all so hyped.

SamboJOKIN with Ayee and Pma

So yesterday, I planned to stay home and enjoy the weekend by fangirling (lol). My phone was actually turned off but I decided to charge it just in case my dad would try to call or text me. It was almost noon and I was still alone in the house. Not complaining though, I love alone times :) I immediately received a text message upon opening my phone. It was Pma telling me we're going out. I wasn't so sure if I wanted to since I came home a bit late the night before after having a few drinks with Erika at TK. I missed her so much! I love that I got to talk to her again about random stuff. I feel sad sometimes thinking we don't get to do that everyday anymore. Oh, and while we were drinking, she randomly said that we should watch the Incubus concert. Then in a sec, they were already playing Drive and we were laughing while enjoying the music. When it hit the chorus, people started to sing in unison "Whatever tomorrow brings I'll be there..." like it was automatic. That made me smile, it was just plain good vibes!

Ok so going back to yesterday, I finally decided to go. We figured we'll just go to Makati since we have been to Ortigas and Eastwood already last week. We ended up eating at Bon Chon and having dessert at Cara Mia. Chicken wings and Gelato kept me smiling the whole time. The weather was perfect - not too hot but not so cloudy. We sat there for hours enjoying the quietness of the place. I loved it! No amount of food or alcohol or music can beat conversations with friends. :)

Killing time doing the it's just a face/phase post

I want more and more of this! I wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow :p

The Brown Things

Labels: , ,
I can't think of anything to actually say on this post. I'm just feeling happy. :) It must be the weather!

So I noticed this morning that my room has a lot of brown in it. I have thought long before to add color in my room but I can't figure out how to do it. Well, no rush. Brown is good!

The brown brogues I bought with Miko weeks ago. It makes me smile. IDK why.

I miss Miko. I wish I could shop with her more often. This is another impulsive purchase and she was there to support. (how can you not love her?)

I finally gave in and bought the brown satchel from the ukay-ukay at Cubao. I first saw this when I was with Jervi. I had thought twice on buying it since I was kinda hoping I would win the Cambridge Satchel by joining the contest on Twitter but figured, that was a long shot. Besides, I was looking for a brown satchel for quite sometime so I guess, there's no reason to hold back on this baby. :p

Yes, I had to take a picture of it with my Mario :)

Sale!

Labels: ,
It was Macy's 6th bday celeb last week (I won't post pictures since I look so worn out because of the heat) and we had to go to the mall to find a gift for her. After having the gift wrapped, I went searching for Kuya to go get him and follow Mum to the grocery. He was looking for a bag at Nike's section of the dept store. We were in a hurry since we're running late (as always)

In a span of 10mins I managed to fit shoes, ask Kuya which is nicer, ask for a new stock and pay for the pair.

Sale is evil. I had no plans of buying shoes that day but since those snicks were on the shelves teasing with the 30% off tag, I could not resist. :)

Late Posts

I'm going to catch up and post some stuff :)

I just got home from Halo with friends - Ayee, Iya and Chal.

Ordered baked chicken as usual. Sipped Taragon shake as usual. Had a great time as usual.

Random topics when suddenly Ayee got a text message.

It's too soon to tell, I know. No bidding goodbyes yet, we still have a month. Then again, a month goes by so fast we wouldn't have enough Halo and Moonleaf to fill in her absence for the next few months or years.

If "The Secret-ing" is true/effective, then I'm going to claim it. Ayee's going to SG, get an awesome job, earn money, save up, buy the things she wants and buy the things I want. Hehe.

More than getting old, we're growing up. I'm happy for you bok, for having a supportive family and for landing in a job that offers a great deal. Don't expect too much though, all things have ups and downs. You're going to rant about work and all that but always think that this is a nice opportunity to explore and go beyond your boundaries. Do this while your young. We're all here to support.

Take this as a blessing! Ma-overwhelm ka lang. Then go for it! :)

When friends finish HS, they go separate ways and study in different universities. When they finish college, they go further, and farther.

We would love to do the usual things with you but I guess, just as how a word loses its meaning when you say it over and over again, life loses meaning when you do the same things over and over too. Whatchathink?

So go there and start being YOU. You without mom, ate, iya, relatives, friends... It's going to be hard. And worth it. So don't get emot and be excited! Lez plan when Pma and I will go visit ok?

I love you!!!
